We’re looking for a Commercial Strategy Manager to lead the development and review of promotional guidelines, monitor competitor and retailer pricing strategies, and track performance against budget targets. This role will play a key part in identifying gaps and opportunities, providing strategic recommendations that drive commercial success.

The Role

 

As part of our commercial team, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering against our volume, revenue, and profit targets as outlined in the commercial plan. Your focus will be on driving performance and ensuring we meet our financial objectives.

 

Track commercial performance against revenue, volume, profit targets; identify risks, gaps and opportunities and make recommendations to the business. Build business cases and scenario plans for commercial decisions (e.g., promo ROI, new promo guidelines, price changes, competitor advantages, NPD launches).

 

You will work closely with Innovation to input into the Innovation pipeline and provide clear pricing and promotional guidance for our NPD, as well as provide post-event and post- innovation evaluation to embed continuous improvement into future plans.

 

You’ll support the Commercial Controller by coordinating insights and materials that help shape and deliver our strategic priorities.

 

Forecast alignment and capacity management will also fall within your remit. You’ll identify risks and opportunities across the financial year, collaborating with Customer Business Managers and operations to ensure plans are robust and achievable.

 

Use retailer and internal data sources to derive insights and create action-oriented recommendations. Develop dashboards, scorecards or reporting tools to improve visibility of promotions and pricing in the market. 

 

Finally, you’ll champion personal development and foster collaboration between a key link between customer, finance, marketing, portfolio and shopper, sharing best practices and driving continuous improvement across the function.

 

Essential Ingredients

 

  • Proven commercial experience, in particular in category, trading, revenue growth, pricing roles.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to build a fact base and prioritise actions quickly.
  • Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Clear, persuasive communicator with strong presentation abilities.
  • Highly organised, with solid project management and time management skills.
  • Confident with IT tools, including advanced Excel and impactful PowerPoint presentations.
