Are you a Materials Coordinator with procurement experience, excellent analytical skills and a keen interest in packaging?

The Recipe


You'll play a pivotal role in managing relationships with our suppliers, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials. Working closely with wider Procurement team, with a focus on customer satisfaction. You'll be organised, a team player with attention to detail with IT skills and proven literacy and numeracy skills as you will be responsible for the operational support and procurement of packaging to our bakeries.

The Role


In this role you'll manage the supply of inbound packaging to the bakeries, ensuring optimum inventory levels which support the operational capability and continued growth of the business. You'll act as the key internal point of contact for all external storage and distribution providers to Warburtons and be responsible for the tasks listed below:


  • Materials / Packaging Stocks Management
  • To manage packaging / raw materials inventory at bakeries, Fowler Welch and suppliers to ensure continuity of supply within agreed stock level and order quantity parameters.
  • Support the introduction of new raw materials/packaging, changes to existing raw materials/packaging and delisting of redundant raw materials.
  • Material / packaging Supply Chain Optimisation
  • Provide support to the Procurement team in the identification and delivery of inbound supply chain improvements.
  • Bakery Site Stores Engagement / Training
  • Provide support to the bakery teams to optimise raw material/packaging  stocks to maintain supply whilst optimising cost and flexibility.
  • Management of delivery issues
  • To liaise with Warburtons staff and external suppliers to resolve delivery, and inventory issues.
  • Inbound Systems and Processes Development
  • Work with the Procurement team to identify areas of improvement within the inbound logistics systems and processes to optimise supplier delivery performance.
  • Management of External Suppliers for Raw Materials Storage and Distribution
  • Work with the Procurement team to identify the optimum solution for external storage and distribution of raw materials..

Essential Ingredients


  • Supply and inventory management experience preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG business
  • Whilst not essential, a degree or higher education qualification in a discipline such as Supply Chain Management or Business Studies, (demonstrating both analytical capability and wider business understanding) would be desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills: Influential and persuasive.
  • Excellent relationship builder: establishing credibility with both internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Good stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical: A good problem solver; meticulous in approach; able to analyse and interpret information effectively.
  • Project management skills
  • Systems Knowledge: Good Knowledge of SAP; proven experience of manipulating software systems to produce a changed output
  • IT Skills- Intermediate level excel and word.
