People Services Advisor

The Recipe
We are looking for an experienced People Services Advisor to join our dynamic People Services Team.
Based in our Head Office in Bolton, the People Services Team plays a vital role in supporting our business, providing the best possible experience for our people across the full employee lifecycle.
This is an exciting time for the People Services Team, as we review and refresh our service offer and ways of working for the next stage of our development. The aim is to ensure we are fit for the future, to provide excellent service to our managers and colleagues in the growing Warburtons business.
We are a flexible and collaborative team and we operate a hybrid working model with a balance of home and office working.
As an integral part of the People function, the People Services Advisor is a busy and varied role. You will be providing a first-level advisory service to managers on a range of policy and procedural queries and issues, including attendance management, conduct, capability, and grievance case advice. As well as advising on our full range of people policies, including family/ other leave and flexible working.
In addition, you will be providing a diverse, complex HR administrative service in line with our people processes and service expectations.
Key Accountabilities and Measures
- Provide an administrative, transactional and first level advisory service throughout the employee lifecycle including contract generation, onboarding and employee changes.
- First point of contact for all our employees who have any people related queries into the People Services team via portal, phone calls, emails or post. Provide the appropriate level of support and advice to our people, explaining policies, procedures and processes in a timely and effective manner beyond self service
- First level advisory support, guidance, administration on a range of policy and procedural issues supporting wider People team and line managers and referral to People Advisor team for more specialist advice for ER related cases
- Use data, initiative, and judgement to identify continuous improvement opportunities and to act upon them
- Build and maintain strong relations with the People Advisors /People Partners to ensure any individual site trends are highlighted and issues are escalated as appropriate
- Maintain a thorough understanding of employment regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws
- To actively support Subject Access Requests and to work with People Advisors/People Partners to strictly adhere to reporting guidelines and timelines
- Actively support the maintenance and governance of the Knowledge Base information process documentation to ensure it is relevant, up to date and accurate
- To support other ad hoc people requirements, as and when required in addition to core responsibilities above, as part of the broader People team to ensure full and effective business operation and people services delivery.
Essential Ingredients
- Experience of providing first-level case management advice (disciplinary, capability, attendance management, and grievance) in line with relevant policies and procedures.
- Experience in providing diverse administration support across the full employee lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best practice policy.
- General knowledge of all aspects of a People function with a good level of expertise in handling first line enquiries relating to policies, procedures and processes.
- Highly organised and able to effectively manage your own workload and time in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the willingness to take the initiative, identify new opportunities, and challenge established ways of doing things.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and work collaboratively.
- CIPD qualified/ may be working towards or qualified by experience.
- Your proactive style and keen eye for detail will go a long way towards ensuring you excel in this role. Relationship building is key to the People Services Advisor role and you’ll be able to establish credibility with contacts at all levels.
