Senior Business Development Manager

The Recipe
To lead the strategy and market implementation of short- and long-term initiatives across UK and Europe expanding Warburtons footprint into new channels by gathering channel and consumer insights for opportunity mapping and developing scalable long term commercial execution plans.
Onboarding and managing a mix of strategic partners developing long term relationships for sustainable growth in expanding Warburtons presence to new channels and increasing our ability to extend supply capacity through unlocking 3rd party partnerships.
Key Accountabilities and Measures
- Development and execution of a comprehensive Channel strategy for the UK and Europe
- Development of business plans to match the Warburtons proposition with their business needs into new channels such as Food Service/ Food to Go. Creation, implementation and review/revise of detailed customer account plans which drive the account full year budgets
- Identify commercial opportunities aligned to our category strategies and consumer insight platforms with focussed on driving our presence within the snacking channels. Development of plans to translate the opportunities into execution
- Partner with cross functional teams to develop alternative route to market and robust executional plans to market to unlock the channel opportunities to ensure alignment with Warburtons strategy and goals.
- Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities to expand Warburtons international presence and development of tailored strategies for each region/location.
- To manage the performance tracking of our channel performance through KPIs and development of action plans to optimise areas of opportunity. Monitor market trends and competitors activities adapting strategies to gain competitive advantage.
- Identify, onboard and manage key partners to deliver go-to-market initiatives to drive sales and increase supply capability building long term defendable relationships.
- Coaching and development of Warburtons colleagues in advancing capability of new channels, improved ways of working and growth. Co-ordination with the Innovation team to support the ideation and development of suitable products for the channel
Essential Ingredients
- Experience of Bakery, Food to Go and or snacking businesses would be an advantage.
- Evidence of success in international market expansion including building network of contacts in UK/Europe
- A track record in building and nurturing relationships with partners.
- Entrepreneurial: To develop new market expansion opportunities and understand the importance of building a brand to have international presence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and navigate different cultural contexts effectively with proactive results drive mindset.
- Customer Management experience within FMCG, operating at a senior manager level and experienced in negotiations.
- Analytical: quickly able to derive the key insights from Nielsen IQ and IGD and channel data.
- Strong story-telling ability: Can present complex information in a clear confident and enthusiastic manner. Effective use of facts and data to support a proposal
- Excellent relationship builder: experience in establishing credibility and rapport with both internal and external contacts at a senior level. Able to maintain strong relationships with external partners and build long term strategic relationships.
- Excellent communication skills: impactful presentation skills; articulate, influential and able to flex style to meet the need and be persuasive with a range of different stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen, with good understanding of the FMCG industry
- Understanding of various commercial processes – S&OP/IBP, Distribution and routes to market
- Experience of establishing regular and adhoc reporting and analysis of channel and market data to extract insights to build strategic recommendations
- Project management skills: ability to plan implementation of short-term work and/or projects.
