Job Title: Health, Safety and Environment Manager 

Sector: Manufacturing and Distribution

Location: Burnley

Contract: Permanent, full-time (onsite)

 

You will be based at our site in Burnley however your remit will cover the manufacturing and distribution functions including our depot in Widnes. There will be an element of travel required.

Essential Ingredients

 

NEBOSH diploma or equivalent

 

•    Experience in a Health & Safety Manager role, ideally within a manufacturing environment (FMCG)
•    Proven ability to make significant decisions in a timely manner, challenging when appropriate 
•    Experience of delegating and inspiring others to take responsibility for HS&E
•    Evidence of improving the safety culture through recognised channels
•    Understanding, through previous experience, of all aspects of Health, Safety & Environment (including legislation, audit handling and management systems

The Recipe

 

Safety is our number one priority and, working alongside our Manufacturing Site Lead, as part of the site leadership team, your role will be to promote and strengthen our existing health and safety culture.  We are looking for you to have a passion, combined with HSE knowledge and ability, will enable you to lead the health, safety, and environment agenda. You’ll make a difference at site and contribute to the national HSE strategy (with the Head of HSE).

 

With an engaging approach and industrial experience, you will be responsible for ensuring site progress in line with the national safety agenda, this will be measured by a combination of KPI’s, internal/external audits and project completion. Continuous improvement is practiced across the business, and you’ll be expected to identify improvement opportunities not only in HSE but also cross functionally.  

 

Crucially, you will be a real team player who can build and maintain strong relationships, at all levels, to drive the safety and environment agenda forward.  Your technical expertise will support you as the site health, safety and environmental lead for site specific projects/installations where you will provide advice and guidance. Due to the requirements and responsibilities of the role we will be looking for you to hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and ideally an IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or Foundation level however experience of working on a permitted site or knowledge of environmental systems would also be taken into consideration.

 

You will also be responsible for the line management and development of a team of HSE Advisors based at the different locations.
