The Recipe

In this role, you’ll support the Compliance Manager to uphold the highest food safety standards at our bakery. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our Bakery meets all legal requirements and company expectations around product quality, hygiene, food safety and maintaining accreditation to BRC, Halal and Kosher standards.

The Role

You will be a key part of a high paced compliance department working alongside the technical department to deliver products that meet the highest of quality standards. In the role, you'll be responsible for maintaining all relevant standards within the Quality Management System, a key responsibility will be maintaining audit readiness. You'll assist the Compliance Manager in maintaining the accuracy of the Document Management System, leading internal auditing and provide support to the compliance manager in the presentation of sections of the BRC audit. Engaging with the site manufacturing teams, you’ll help promote food safety and hygiene standards across the bakery. Working with the Compliance Manager and Hygiene Manager, you’ll help identify and implement effective hygiene protocols. The role will also require collaboration with the wider group’s compliance teams.

Essential Ingredients

  • Awareness of quality management systems (QMS)  
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages 
  • Ability to communicate across multiple levels of an organisation.
  • Ability to accurately capture and interpret complex data to aid good decision making within scope of role
  • Ability to develop new skills and knowledge of varying complexity to work across a multi-skilled Operations
  • Attention for detail and a focus on quality

 

  Desired

 

  • Knowledge and experience of working in a food company (ideally within a FMCG sector) 
  • Knowledge of BRC standard for food safety and its implementation.
  • Level 3 HACCP & Food Safety qualifications
  • Internal Auditor training 
  • A current UK driving licence
  • Degree in Food science or science-based degree
  • Knowledge of hygiene management, KPI’s CIC, etc 
  • Appreciation of food microbiology and pest control
  • Awareness of bread making process: Plant, product, ingredient functionality and process technology
  • Knowledge of HS&E and food safety legislation
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
