The Recipe

 

A Driver Operations Team Managers' role is to ensure management of the safe, efficient and effective performance of our Distribution/Driver Operations department. Typically, a team of Drivers may comprise of between 10 to 15 Drivers and a Driver Operations Team Manager will be responsible in all areas of operational and managerial aspects to meet business targets and to ensure our quality products reach customers on time and in full.

 

We’re going on a journey of innovation and continuous improvement and you’ll drive, through the team, safe, efficient and timely delivery of products out to our customers.  We work as part of a family and teamwork is very important to us, the role will work with the Bakery and Distribution management teams on a daily basis.  You’ll have your eye on the budget and be able to manage and maintain a fleet of vehicles in accordance with Company policy, health & safety and statutory and legal requirements. Most importantly, people are our most precious ingredient, team development and passion comes from you!

Key Accountabilities and Measures

 

  • To manage a team of Primary and Secondary Distribution Drivers to ensure agreed performance levels are achieved whilst ensuring high standards of customer service
  • To ensure all colleagues and contractors comply with Health Safety and Environment, Quality and Food Safety legislation, policies and standards. Initiating required action so that the department continues to drive and develop the Health, Safety and Environment culture
  • Maintain compliance to transport operator’s and driver regulations (and Warburtons Distribution Manual) ensuring continued legal transport operation
  • Manages a team of Drivers, taking responsibility for all people management activities throughout the employee lifecycle of their team in order to drive improved performance building a positive and motivated team where everyone is engaged.

Essential Ingredients

 

  • Previous experience of operating at a management level within a Transport or Warehouse environment.
  • Experience in managing teams, coaching and mentoring.
  • Prior use of Distribution systems, processes & Operator Licence/Tachograph/ WTD regulations.
  • Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment and Food Safety Legislation / BRC standards.
  • Strong communication skills, articulate and able to develop effective, long-term relationships with key stakeholders and peers.
  • Analytical and organised in approach with good problem solving skills.
  • Distribution compliance knowledge.
